When Mirsolav Pujic meets a stranger on
an airplane, the conversation often
turns to what he does for a living.
“I travel,” he tells inquirers, “and I
talk to people about life and the
quality of life.” Of course, since
the days of James White, J.N.
Loughborough and J.N. Andrews,
Seventh-day Adventists have traveled the
globe and talked with people about life
issues. But while the pioneers may not
have used those terms, Pujic, who heads
one of the world church’s “study
centers,” uses language that reaches
people living in today’s
spiritual-but-not-necessarily-Christian
world.

“Back to Eden .
. . The Exposure of Truth.”
This is the title of Pastor
Barrington Brennen’s first Sabbath pulpit series at
Living Faith beginning Sabbath, February 9, 2008.
The series will be in six to eight parts (Sabbaths).
After reviewing the result of the “Pastoral
Acquaintance Survey,” I decided to preach on this
series to enable us to review key doctrines,
beliefs, and practices of the Adventist Church. As
a child, I remember my parents having the book “Back
to Eden” published in 1935 by
Jethro Kloss. He was one
of America's earliest and most creative soy foods
pioneers. The book is about diet and natural
remedies that reflect what God intended from the
beginning. However, the pulpit series “Back to Eden
. . . The Exposure of Truth” is not just about
diet. There are many life principles, practices,
and beliefs that we must rediscover. This is what
we will do. Plan to attend each Sabbath beginning
February 9, 2008. Remember to bring your Bibles,
always. It is appropriate to say that this pulpit
series “is just what you are thinking and not what
you are thinking.” |

Social
justice issues should be at the heart of our
Adventist consciousness.
Even the hardest heart would have to concede
that while we shall always have poor people,
some side effects of poverty are just too
much to contemplate without falling to your
knees and crying to God for deliverance.
For example, consider these words:
“According to the U.S. intelligence
community, of the estimated 800,000 people
trafficked across international borders
annually, 80 percent of victims are female,
and up to 50 percent are minors. Hundreds of
thousands of these women and children are
used in prostitution each year. U.S. policy
draws a direct connection between
prostitution and human trafficking.”
