Project Sturrup

Witnessing With No Strings Attached

Going to every home in the Living Faith distric

Iretta Sturrup

Project Sturrup is a comprehensive witnessing program in the Living Faith Church district.  It is witnessing with no strings attached.  Project Sturrup involves the entire membership of the church being divided in teams of twos who will adopt two to five homes in the district.  The teams will take a magazine and smile to each home every month or at least six times a year.  Inserted in the magazines will be a letter from the pastor and/or an invitation to watch Hope TV or 3ABN or a special event occurring at the church, or other helpful information.
Project Sturrup is named in honor of Iretta Sturrup, a member of Living Faith Church, who gave the concept to Barrington Brennen, pastor,  one day during a discussion at Single Adults meeting.   Iretta is passionate about sharing the gospel.  When explaining her passion to us she said "it is not good when the only times we go to knock to doors is when we want to invite people to a meeting.  Let us do it regularly and become friends with the people."  Thus "Project Sturrup" was born.

THE PROGRAM

Project Struurp is divided in three phases:

  1. Knock and Smile
  2. Call and Care
  3. Come and Join

1. Knock and Smile, as introduce earlier in this article, is simply taking a magazine to the door of each home regularly.

2. Call and Care involves three parts: (1)  A Loss and Grief team of ten individuals will read the obituaries in all the newspapers each week and report of persons who would have died in the district.  A letter or sympathy card will be taken to the home  by the visiting team  (2) As team members visit each home they will observe the needs (broken windows, unkept yards, etc) and report their findings to the "Restore Team" who will return to do the repairs.

3.  Come and Join  This we believe will be the by product of Project Sturrup.  People will more likely respond to invitations to come to a program and be more interested in learning about the Adventist Faith because we are caring and responsive to their needs.
